Lexie made her grand appearance on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 1:44 p.m. She weighed in at a whopping 8 pounds 13 ounces - mack dab in the middle of her brothers with Carter weighing 8 pounds 11 ounces and Jax weighing 8 pounds 15-1/2 ounces. We went in at 6 a.m. and I got hooked up to Pitocin at about 8 a.m. He broke my water at 12:20 and then she quickly came almost an hour later! She is perfect in every way and is a little chubbers. She has the cutest little chubby cheeks that mommy and daddy just can't keep their lips off of! She looks a lot like Jax when he was a newborn. She has been a little sweetheart so far and is the most mellow of all the Shane kids. She really only cries if she is hungry or a little uncomfortable. I really think she is perfect in every way.
Her brothers couldn't love her more, although Jax was a little hesitant at first. He didn't even want to hold her. I think he was just weirded out by the whole thing. A new sister, his mom being in the hospital hooked up to IVs. In fact, he wouldn't even give me a hug because he was freaked out by the IV in my left arm. He was acting out and being kind of naughty the first few days Lexie was home. He has been much better as time has gone on and I'm sure he will only get better. Carter just loves her to pieces. I think he would hold her most of the day if I would let him. Carter and Jax love to kiss her and snuggle her and it takes everything in me to stop them from malling her all day long.
I think daddy is the most in love. He calls her "little darlin' " and he just adores her. He snuggles with her when she is up late at night and mommy needs to go to bed. There is something precious about a daddy's love for his daughter and I love watching it.
