White and Black

So for all of you who don't know, Matt and I are building a house in Lehi. I'm excited to be able to choose most of my color/options but at the same time it makes me realize that I'm AWFUL at making decisions. Matt and I were at the design center today and we got most things sorted out, but the one thing I cannot decide on is the color scheme of the kitchen. I've always been pretty traditional but as I've explored more and more kitchen designs, I'm thinking about a white kitchen with a black island. I have a picture in my head, so it is hard to explain how exactly I want it, but I found a picture online that is close to what I want. So here are my questions to you, my fellow bloggers: Do you like the beadboard cabinet doors, or is it "beadboard overload?" What about the contrasting island? Give me your honest feedback and thanks for your help!

I like very traditional too. I love the white kitchen with black island. And with white you can bring in any other accent colors that pop with your dishes and other little knick knacks. That's about as far as my design know-how goes. Not far. I'm sure anything you choose will be beautiful. You have great taste and style!

I like the black and white idea. I personally i think beadborad but I think that it could date the house and you might feel like you have to decorate different for it. I was going to do it on my doors throughout my house and changed my mind at the last minute. Just an opinion. But I like the picture.

A house!! I love the contrast cabinets and the black and white idea . . . the only thing that came to mind was lots of dirty finger prints from the kdis on the white cabintry. But white is so bright and cheery . . what ever you choose will look great!

Hi,
I stumbled on to your blog yesterday. Great blog - I love your header and the black & white pics of your family. Beautiful family!

I love the look of the black island! My mom actually did that in her new house and it is striking and adds alot of interest. The picture you found has such a clean look, I love it!

love the black and white. very clean...also very unforgiving. the white part is. it will show every ding and schmutz that hits the cabinets.

i love the bar/table idea.

Hey, I think it is way cute, but honestly I think that I couldn't keep the white cabinets clean!! But you are a better housekeeper than me!

I love the white and Black.. I am the same way.. Chris and I are moving to Idaho and will be building a new house and we are planning on doing white cabinets too!! Very traditional and will never go out of style. Also a lot of the white cabinets are easy to wipe clean of any marks. The kitchen will be beautiful. And the beadborad looks good now but I think that you will want to change it in a few years. So I would go with the traditional panel doors. I can't wait to see the finished product! WHen do you move in?

Hi Jessica! How are you guys doing? I'm glad you found me. I've sorta slacked on our blog for a long time, but I finally posted some pics and I saw your comment. I envy your weather there in Utah right now. Today was a couple of degrees shy of 100. But I miss seeing your cute family at church and having you come visit me every month... well almost every month hahaha. I loved looking at your blog. Keep in touch and I for sure think you should replicate that kitchen exactly. I like it. Take care!
